Veterinary consultations give the vet the opportunity to do an overall examination of your pet, establish a health baseline, and screen your pet for potential health issues.
Book a vet consultation today and let’s start your pet’s journey to a long, healthy life.
What happens during a consultation?
The vet performs a complete evaluation of your pet, gathers vital health information, and assesses whether there is any deviation from your pet’s established health baseline. This evaluation includes:
- weight assessment
- temperature check
- eye and ear assessments
- dental examination
- abdominal palpation
- blood pressure monitoring
- skin health check
- heart and lung check
- blood tests (if necessary)
- urinalysis (if necessary)
- X-rays (if necessary)
The vet may also use the consultation to administer vaccinations, implant a microchip, deworm your pet or administer medication for external parasite control.
Why is a consultation necessary?
Your pet’s annual consultation allows the vet to:
- screen for potential health problems before they manifest as serious illness
- administer preventative treatment, which is more cost-effective than treating an illness
- answer pet owners’ questions regarding your pet’s general health and lifestyle
- make nutritional, exercise and behavioural recommendations that will improve your pet’s wellbeing
- monitor your pet’s weight
When should pets undergo a consultation?
- Annually for healthy pets
- Biannually or quarterly if there is an underlying health condition that needs regular monitoring
When pets regularly visit our practice, they become familiar with the clinic, the receptionists, the veterinarians, the vet nurses and assistants. The people and environment encourage your pet’s relaxation and calmness, which will have a positive impact on everyone’s experience at the vet.
